Ron Blitch Named Chancellor of AIA College of Fellows

125a8675 EditWASHINGTON — Ron Blitch has been inaugurated as the 62nd chancellor of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) because of his “service to the AIA, the profession of architecture and his community.” The AIA said he is only the third chancellor from Louisiana in its 166-year history.Blitch is a partner of Blitch Knevel Architects in Covington, La. He received the AIA Louisiana’s highest honor, the Medal of Honor, in 2015. He co-founded AIA’s Design for Aging Knowledge Community in 1988 and served as its chair until 2005. He has served as president of NCARB, and secretary of NAAB, and currently is on the Advisory Council of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture.Blitch is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received the Orlando Maione Award as the School’s outstanding alumnus in 2015. He currently serves his community as president of the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners, a member of the Abita Springs LA Historic Commission, the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum board, and as a board member of the Northshore Business Council.
