Robert J. Guidry Family Foundation Grant Enables Sunshine Kids To Ride In ‘Krewe Of Boo’ Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – The Sunshine Kids will shine in the “Krewe of Boo! In the Boo Carré!” this Saturday night thanks to a $10K Grant from the Robert J. Guidry Family Foundation.

         “The Sunshine Kids Foundation exists for the purpose of arranging great trips to fascinating places and events to give the kids a break from their medical regimens in their battles against cancer,” Chief Deputy Craig Taffaro, of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Board Chairman of The Sunshine Kids Foundation, said. “We are greatly appreciative of the generosity of The Robert J. Guidry Family Foundation. This $10,000 gift will go a long way in giving these children some happiness.”

         The Sunshine Kids Foundation provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America and Canada. The children annually come to New Orleans and Jefferson Parish for Mardi Gras and Halloween festivities.  Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office has hosted the Sunshine Kids for the past 25 years.

         “I am deeply touched by the resilience and the incredible courage of the children and their families who have been through so very much,” Guidry said. “Our Krewe of Boo parade is unlike any other and I truly hope it is an experience the children will always remember.”

         The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, we are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.

         In an effort to give back to the communities around him, the  Robert J. Guidry Family Foundation was established in 2015. Saying of his family’s philanthropic foundation, “This is an opportunity for me to fund worthwhile charitable projects. I have been blessed in my business life with financial success and I plan to share my good fortune with those less fortunate through this Foundation.”
