River Parishes Tourist Commission and Chamber Announce Partnership

LAPLACE, La. – The River Parishes Tourist Commission and River Region Chamber of Commerce announced a formal partnership aimed at growing and supporting the business community throughout the River Parishes. The partnership was unanimously adopted by the River Parishes Tourist Commission at its May 16 regular meeting. Detail

The partnership includes cooperative marketing, education, and promotion efforts of both organizations with a goal of increasing engagement with the business communities throughout the area. Also, the Executive Director of the River Parishes Tourist Commission will serve as an ex-officio member of the Chamber’s board.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Chamber as we work to expand the economic activity throughout the area through increased tourism. This partnership will make our business community stronger, connect businesses in different sectors, and allow us to use the strengths of each organization to further deepen our communities’ connections,” said Buddy Boe, Executive Director of the River Parishes Tourist Commission.

The River Parishes Tourist Commission is a public agency tasked with the promotion of the area’s attractions, meetings space, and culture to attract visitors from across America and the world. The Commission is comprised of three commissioners from each parish and commission members must be members of their respective Parish’s Economic Development Committee.

The Chamber is currently celebrating its fifteen-year anniversary as the regional representative of the business community. When formed, the Chamber shared office space with the River Parishes Tourist Commission.

“I am happy our Commission sees the value in this partnership and I look forward to working with the Chamber to increase unity in the business community,” said Peggy Joseph, chairman of the River Parishes Tourist Commission.

The partnership also provides for an annual Chamber Lunch & Learn hosted by the River Parishes Tourist Commission on a topic related to the tourism and hospitality industry and an annual Chamber Perks hosted at the Commission’s office to increase stakeholders and community awareness of the work done by the Commission.

“A partnership between the Tourist Commission and Chamber is a natural," said John Little, chairman of the River Region Chamber of Commerce. "The Chamber strives to grow, strengthen and unify businesses across the tri-parish area, while the Tourist Commission works to bring visitors to our region and enhance the offerings and success of businesses that serve those visitors.”
