ResCon 2022 Scheduled for April 19-21 at Convention Center

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has announced the return of ResCon 2022 on April 19-21. The three-day, international conference will focus on successful resilience and disaster management in an evolving global environment. This year’s conference will focus on four key themes to inspire interactive discussions on resilience: climate change, cybersecurity, infrastructure and vulnerable populations.

“New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region are no stranger to overcoming environmental disasters, which is why it is so important for New Orleans to support events that harness innovation and collaboration to face our world’s greatest challenges,” said Michael J. Sawaya, Convention Center president. “ResCon brings together a community of pioneering creative minds that are working to create a brighter future for all of us. We are excited to host this event once again.”

In addition to highlighting today’s preeminent challenges, this premier annual conference will also focus on making resilience the “new normal,” finding opportunities in disaster and measuring progress and sustainability in resilience-based initiatives. The conference will feature expert panelists including Chief Resilience Officers Marissa Aho (Washington), Ben Duncan (South Carolina) and Charles Sutcliffe (Louisiana).

Produced in partnership with the National Governors Association (NGA), ResCon offers the chance for participants to not only be spectators to the discussions taking place, but to be active members of interactive, engaging conversations. The conference has brought professionals from avant-garde circles, such as policymakers, advocates and resilience officers, to New Orleans annually since 2012.

“We believe in bringing creative skills, thoughts and ideas to the table which is what ResCon is all about,” said Timothy Blute, director, National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. “In order to address our nation and world’s biggest challenges, we need to come together to innovate and prepare for what lies ahead. We are looking forward to once again working with the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to bring people together for these critical conversations.”

Programming includes discussions such as “Equitable Climate Resilience Tools and Resources for U.S. Local Governments” and “Sustainability: The Importance of Sustainability and Resilience in Insurance and Risk,” as well as ample opportunities for networking and forward-thinking conversations with a large group of innovative leaders and changemakers.
