NEW ORLEANS – The Greater New Orleans Foundation, New Orleans Business Alliance, and other local leading partners, will cohost and sponsor the rescheduled BioDistrict Conference keynote address by Bruce Katz, a former Brookings Institute Centennial Scholar, nationally-acclaimed speaker, and author of The New Localism: How Cities Can Thrive in the Age of Populism.
In addition to his leadership at The Brookings Institution, Katz is co-founder of the New Localism Advisors which advises metropolitan, national, and global leaders from the government, business, and civic sectors on public reforms and private innovations that advance the competitiveness of metropolitan areas.
The original BioDistrict Conference was delayed because of the threat of Tropical Storm Gordon. The rescheduled event will now take place on Wednesday, Oct. 31. A networking reception begins at 9:30 a.m.; the program runs from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
“The Geography of Innovation: The BioMedical District-The Premise and The Promise” will focus on the development of the BioMedical District of New Orleans as an innovation district, and discuss the tools that can be leveraged to ensure prosperity and equitable development.
The Honorable LaToya Cantrell, mayor of New Orleans, will speak to conference attendees.
The conference was initiated by NAI Latter and Blum and is co-sponsored by the City of New Orleans; New Orleans Business Alliance; Greater New Orleans Foundation; Downtown Development District; Greater New Orleans, Inc.; New Orleans Chamber of Commerce; Tulane Medical Center; Ochsner Health Systems; New Orleans BioInnovation Center; Xavier University and the Spirit of Charity Initiative.
