NEW ORLEANS – Registration for GiveNOLA Day is now open for nonprofits wanting to participate in the third annual GiveNOLA Day that will take place on May 3, 2016, from midnight to midnight.
Registration will be open until March 1, 2016.
GiveNOLA Day is a 24-hour, online giving event organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to ignite the giving community in Southeast Louisiana. Tied to a national event, Give Local America is sponsored by the Council on Foundations and technology partner Kimbia who are hosting a national giving day for hundreds of community foundations across the country on May 3, 2016.
All 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are in good standing with the IRS, nonprofit entities that have a fiscal sponsor that is a 501(c)(3) organization in good standing with the IRS and organizations categorized by the IRS as 509(a)(3) are eligible to participate.
The organization’s service area and mailing address must be in the Greater New Orleans Foundation 13-parish region, which is: Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington. Supporting organizations must provide additional documentation, if not already on file with the Greater New Orleans Foundation.
All nonprofits must participate in a mandatory mechanics webinar. Additionally, the Greater New Orleans Foundation is offering optional “It’s Your First GiveNOLA Day” workshops for organizations and staff new to GiveNOLA Day, as well as “Advanced Crowdfunding: Amplifying your GiveNOLA Day Campaign” for staff that is already familiar with GiveNOLA Day.
In its second year, GiveNOLA Day raised $4 million for the 571 participating nonprofits from more than 34,000 donations.
