(NEW ORLEANS) – In honor of America Recycles Day 2014, local recycling leaders will visit the Recycling Rangers of Hynes Charter School to see their recycling program on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 1:00 p.m.
The Recycling Rangers, comprised of all third grade volunteers, will demonstrate how they visit classrooms and offices once a week to collect recyclables.
The school’s recycling program is an example of the growing recycling efforts across New Orleans, which include recycling at schools, businesses, festivals and the City of New Orleans curbside and drop-off recycling programs.
Those expected to attend the event at the Hynes Charter School, located at 990 Harrison Ave., are Liz Davey, Chair, Keep New Orleans B eautiful, Sean Vissar, Executive Director, The Green Project, Ann LeBlanc, President, Lakeview Civic Improvement Association, Brian Anderson, President-Elect, Lakeview Civic Improvement Association, Melissa Gascon, Environmental Education Coordinator, The Green Project, Michelle Cohen and Gabriel Bordenave, YLC Recycles Project Leaders, Michelle Douglas, Principal, Hynes Charter School and Angela Glaviano, Teacher and Sponsor of Recycling Rangers, Hynes Charter School.
America Recycles Day is a national initiative by Keep America Beautiful and is the only nationally recognized day and community-driven awareness event dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S. Since 1997, communities across the country have participated in America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 to promote recycling awareness, commitment, and action.
Keep New Orleans Beautiful is a partnership of city agencies, non-profits, businesses and individuals working on litter reduction, recycling, and neighborhood beautification. It is an affiliate of Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the national organization Keep America Beautiful.
