ALEXANDRIA, LA (AP) — Designers working on the renovation of the Rapides Parish Coliseum say that although they've discovered new project hurdles, the 50-year-old structure is still on track to be finished by the end of next year.
The Alexandria Daily Town Talk reports that a change order for nearly $90,000 and an increase of 13 work days were approved during Rapides Parish Police Jury committee meetings Monday. Both must still be approved by a full jury vote next week.
Bill Tudor of Alliance Design Group says the added cost and time aren't expected to delay the project's scheduled December 2016 completion date or push it over its roughly $23 million budget.
The $90,000 change order covers some work that cost more than anticipated, such as replacing underground drainage pipes and roofing panels.
