NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A group of protesters held a satirical protest at the University of New Orleans to speak out against the construction of a professional golf course in City Park.
Protesters are upset about the loss of a large chunk of wild space because of the golf course's construction.
On Wednesday, the City Park for Everyone Coalition held a "golf-occupation" at UNO. The group satirically called on the state to build golf courses where UNO now is.
The fight against the City Park golf course also has featured at least three tree sitters. On March 24, a tree sitter fell out of a tree he had been in for 11 days and was injured.
The City Park for Everyone Coalition has sued City Park to block construction of the golf course.
