Property Tax Payment Deadline Is Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans has issued a reminder that Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, is the payment deadline for 2015 property taxes.      Residents can pay their property taxes online or by mail on or before Saturday, Jan. 31, to avoid long lines. City Hall will extend its office hours on Friday, Jan. 30, accepting payments from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Because Jan. 31 falls on a weekend, the City will only accept in-person payments on Monday, Feb. 2, and will do so at City Hall during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All other payments – including those submitted online or by mail – must be submitted or postmarked on or before Jan. 31, 2015, to receive timely credit.

Residents who want to pay in person can do so at the Bureau of Treasury in City Hall, Room 1W40, during normal business hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The City is also providing a drop-off lane on the Perdido Street entrance to City Hall on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Residents can also use one of three temporary drop-off locations on Friday, Jan. 30, in New Orleans East, Mid City or Algiers.

Residents may view and pay their property tax bills online by visiting http://www.nola.gov/pay-taxes/ and select “Pay Real Estate Tax.”

To pay online, residents will need their tax bill number. Credit or debit card payments are accepted, but a 2.49% processing fee will be added. There is no convenience fee for payments submitted with a checking account and bank routing number, but using a debit card linked to a checking account will incur a fee. Online payments must be submitted on or before Jan. 31, 2015, to receive timely credit.

Residents may also mail a check, along with a payment stub from their property tax bill, to P.O. Box 60047, New Orleans, LA 70160-0047.          Write your tax bill number and property address for the tax bill on the face of the check and include the payment stub. Mailed payments must be postmarked by Jan. 31, 2015, to receive timely credit.
