NEW ORLEANS – Einstein Charter School announced today in a press release that its Village De l'Est (VDLE) PK-5 school has been recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Launch. It is one of just 340 schools across the U.S. to receive this honor and the only school in the state of Louisiana.
The release stated, Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S. PLTW empowers students to develop in-demand, transportable knowledge and skills through pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. PLTW’s teacher training and resources support teachers as they engage their students in real-world learning.
“We are proud to be recognized by PLTW as a distinguished school,” said Olivia Bertucci, PLTW certified lead teacher and instructional coach at Einstein Charter Schools in an announcement about the honor. “We remain committed to exposing our students to every available opportunity to increase their knowledge in the ever-growing fields of science, engineering and technology."
The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of K-12 students and teachers in over 10,500 schools across the U.S.

Einstein Charter Schools ' other nationwide recognitions include receiving a $5 million grant for Replication and Expansion of High Quality Charter Schools from the United States Department of Education (2015) and the Exemplary Education award from the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color (2015). In Louisiana, Einstein has been recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as a “Top Gains” and “High Performing, High Poverty” school and by the Orleans Parish School Board as a “Top Performing” school.
