NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A historic building at New Orleans' Jackson Square has re-opened more than six weeks after a small fire prompted its closure.
The Presbytere, designed in 1791, is one of two historic buildings flanking St. Louis Cathedral. It is part of the Louisiana State Museum system.
A fire in the mechanical room on April 3 damaged the building's air conditioning system and led to closure of the building.
Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser announced the building's re-opening in a Thursday news release.
