NEW ORLEANS – The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the state Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), has cancelled the precautionary boil water advisory for residents and businesses on the Eastbank of New Orleans after bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area is safe to drink and can be used normally for personal needs.
Customers are advised to flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their system.
SWB Executive Director Cedric S. Grant said, “We are pleased that the tests proved negative and that we can cancel the boil water advisory at this time. We issued the advisory in the best interest of our customers and with an abundance of caution to ensure their health and safety. I commend the fast and professional work by SWB employees from several departments and the excellent cooperation of DHH officials.”
