LAKE CHARLES, LA (AP) — While Golden Nugget Lake Charles officials have yet to confirm an official opening date, a recent post on the casino's Facebook page and website says the hotel will be taking reservations for as early as Dec. 8.
Even though details about the $700 million facility's opening have been scarce, residents throughout Southwest Louisiana and east Texas are planning trips to the casino and resort, The American Press’ Justin Phillips reports.
Callers interested in visiting have flooded the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau with calls, Megan Monsour Hartman said. The interest, she said, is just another solid indicator of how much the region is anticipating the location's opening.
The casino and resort includes restaurants and a private beach and marina with a pool area and an 18-hole golf course. The casino includes 1,600 slot machines, 70 tables and a poker room.
Hartman said the visitor's bureau has been working with the Golden Nugget on details of the Louisiana Society of Association Executives annual convention to be held at the casino and resort in January.
"LSAE is a group of business professionals, meeting planners, destination marketing organizations and hotels from across the state who will not only have the opportunity to experience the new meeting venue, but also the rest of the cultural and culinary offerings throughout Southwest Louisiana," Hartman said.
