NEW ORLEANS – Most festival-goers in the Big Easy are well aware of Hogs for a Cause, New Orleans’ premier BBQ competition serving as the major fundraiser for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the U.S. But, for fans of Zea Rotisserie & Bar, opportunities to amplify the cause go beyond the weekend-long event. For the third consecutive year, all Zea locations are offering special menu items that benefit the organization throughout July.
Last year, Zea raised nearly $10,000 alongside other Taste Buds Management restaurants including Semolina.
Zea guests have two options to support Hogs for the Cause – more specifically, the “Piggy Stardust Team.” During their visit, diners can drop any amount of cash into a special piggy bank and, while they’re at it, fill out a registration slip for a chance to win a $250 gift card They may also order one of the limited-time, highly coveted dishes described below, all available at any Zea from July 1 – July 31:
• Korean BBQ Pork Tacos: Spicy Korean BBQ pork, flour tortillas, lettuce leaves and homemade kimchi slaw; served family style, four per order
• Pork Quesadilla: Smoked pulled pork, sharp cheddar cheese, and house-made chipotle mayo, layered between two flour tortillas and served with house-made guacamole
• Country Fried Pork Ribs: Zea’s signature St. Louis style ribs, slow roasted, breaded & fried, tangy BBQ sauce for dipping (three per order)
• BBQ Potato Chips, Thick house-cut sea salted potato chips, drizzled with a white queso, topped with a pecan smoked, pulled pork and a charred jalapeño honey BBQ sauce and pickled red onion
