NEW ORLEANS – Baking, bowling, food, drinks, the St. Augustine Brass Band and a silent auction… Sounds like the perfect recipe for the 3rd Annual PLEASE Foundation Bake-N-Bowl Fundraiser on Saturday, April 2, at Rock n’ Bowl, 3016 S. Carrollton Ave. from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Proceeds will go towards the foundation’s mission to inspire at-risk children to a future of excellence through educational, spiritual and social resources.
The Bake-N-Bowl Fundraiser will hold a cupcake decorating event preceding the fundraiser from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., where local children are invited to decorate cupcakes with New Orleans chefs.
The fundraising Bowl-A-Thon starts at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by the St. Augustine Brass Band at 7:00 p.m.
Attendees can bowl individually, and all tickets purchased allow guests to eat, drink and bowl or complete in teams of 6 for the Bowl-A-Thon Grand Prize of 6 different nights of dining at New Orleans restaurants.
Tickets cost $50 for adults, $30 for kids. Children five and under will be admitted for free.
A team of six entering the bowling contest costs $500.
The PLEASE Foundation was founded in 2007 by native New Orleanian Yvette Endom who said she has always had a passion for helping at-risk children. After being displaced from her home for nine months due to Hurricane Katrina, she wanted to make the community a better place by inspiring the children of New Orleans. Endom created The PLEASE Foundation to help provide scholarships for inner-city children to receive the best education available to them in New Orleans. She believes that providing them with a college-preparatory Catholic education was the best way to pull them out of poverty and help them become the future leaders of our city.
The PLEASE Foundation has experienced tremendous success in helping these children, Endom said. “We have provided over 310 scholarships for students to attend Catholic Schools in New Orleans,” she said. “The PLEASE Foundation has awarded over $700,000 in scholarship money to our students. The PLEASE Foundation continues to expand and has been able to educate more children each year.”
