Peoples Community To Host Groundbreaking For $45M Marrero Mixed-Income Gated Community For Local First Responders

MARRERO, LA – The official groundbreaking ceremony for Westwood Crossing, a new $45 million mixed-income gated community, will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015, adjacent to 7017 LaPalco Blvd. in Marrero, at 11:00 a.m.

         Jefferson Parish President John Young, Jefferson Parish Councilmember-at-large Christopher L. Roberts, Louisiana State Senator J.P. Morrell, and Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni will join Peoples Community Founder/ Executive Director Leatrice Hollis, First NBC Bank Regional Manager Ray Tyree, Grid Iron Construction Owner Ricky Jackson, and representatives from the Jefferson Parish Community Development Department (JEDCO), Greater Mount Calvary Church and Four Points Title are all scheduled to attend.

         The homes will allow community servants, such as firefighters, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, teachers and government employees to enjoy the American Dream of home ownership. In 2012, Peoples Community developed Anderson Place, the first mixed-income housing community for first responders and public servants in Jefferson Parish.
