Pearson Will Not Seek State Senate Seat

SLIDELL, LA – State Rep. Kevin Pearson, R-Slidell, said despite urging from some constituents in his district, he will not seek the Senate District 1 seat being vacated by Sen. A.G. Crowe.

"I'm honored that people in District 76 are encouraging me to run for the upper chamber of the Legislature, but I will pursue reelection in my House district, as I announced to constituents in March," Pearson said. "I'm happy to continue serving in the House of Representatives, where I believe I've been effective. There are two impressive candidates already in the Senate race and I'm satisfied the people of the Senate district will select good leadership from whatever field emerges."

Completing his second term in the House this year, Pearson has been chair of the Retirement Committee for six years. He has authored three constitutional amendments to advance fiscal responsibility and has worked to strengthen Louisiana's public retirement systems.
