Patio Planters Of The Vieux Carré Announce White Elephant Sale & Auction, Holiday Home Tour, Caroling In Jackson Square

NEW ORLEANS – Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré, a social and service organization dedicated the preservation and beautification of New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, will bring together some of the best French Quarter shops, restaurants, hotels and art galleries to donate gift certificates and auction items for its White Elephant Sale & Auction on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Homer A. Plessy School, 721 St. Philip St. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. for the sale, and the auction begins at 12:00 p.m.  

         Yard sale items will include jewelry, books, clothing, plants and more, and there will also be a raffle.

         Admission is free and open to the public.

         On Sunday, Dec. 17, savor the holiday spirit as Patio Planters presents French Quarter residences for its Holiday Home Tour. This December fundraiser is a prelude to the highly anticipated Caroling in Jackson Square later in the evening. Several homes will be opened for a self-guided walking tour between the hours of 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. On-line ticket sales begin Friday, Nov. 17.

         For both visitors and locals, Caroling in Jackson Square is the highlight of the Holiday Season in New Orleans, organizers said. A holiday tradition since 1946, Caroling in Jackson Square is a joyful experience that thousands of people participate in every year, they said. The event is open to all who wish to participate, regardless of religious affiliation. Candles and song sheets are provided at this free event.

         The gates to Jackson Square open at 6:30 p.m. and caroling begins at 7:00 p.m.
