I know what it means to miss New Orleans.
The folks at Parish Parcel do, too.
That’s why the Lafayette, LA-based start-up has partnered with local artists, chefs, musicians and craftsmen to curate monthly subscription boxes to ease some of that heartache by delivering spices, clothes, food, art, music, recipes and Louisiana-made merchandise to those craving a taste of what only South Louisiana can provide.
“With so many visitors coming to Louisiana year after year, Parish Parcel hopes to provide an ongoing infusion of all things Louisiana right to their door,” Jaci Russo, founding partner and brand manager of Parish Parcel, said. “And for those who now find themselves living away, the curated monthly subscription boxes will offer a taste of home month after month.”
Russo is the CEO of The Russo Group, a strategic branding, marketing and communications firm with offices in New Orleans, Lafayette and Nashville.
With Parish Parcel, Russo is capitalizing on the growing subscription box trend with a mission to provide awareness and support of Louisiana-based nonprofits that support culture and coastal restoration. By packaging and delivering 6 to 8 uniquely Cajun and authentically Louisiana made items each month to its subscribers, Parish Parcel is showcasing the unique personality and products of Louisiana’s distinct parishes, focusing on selling local brands instead of generic Southern swag.
According to Business Insider, Morgan Stanley expects global e-commerce sales to top $1 trillion this year. They report growth in the subscription e-commerce industry is due to subscription companies shipping their products to their customers straight from manufacturers saving on costs for shelf space, online subscriptions offering accelerated and scheduled deliveries, easily attainable global distribution, sales marketing efficiency found in online markets and the fact consumers like to buy their goods online to assure the best prices.
Parish Parcel customers choose between a Standard Box or a Lagniappe Box, choose a month-to-month or annual subscription and place orders online.
The Parish Parcel Standard Box automatically renews at $29.00 a month until it’s cancelled. The Parish Parcel Lagniappe Box includes everything in the Standard Box plus a custom Louisiana themed T-shirt. It automatically renews for $49.00 a month until the subscription is cancelled.
The Parish Parcel website also offers shopping for individual local products including Slap Ya Mama Cajun Jambalaya Mix, Acadiana Coffee Roasters Organix Coffee and Louisiana shaped cookie cutters.
There’s also a rotating Feature of the Month. This July, Parish Parcel subscription boxes will carry an “Acadiana” theme, and promote items from the most diverse parishes of Acadiana including St. Martin, St. Landry, Evangeline, Calcasieu, and Lafayette.
The contents include “a hot sauce packed with tons of flavor, a must-have seasoning that is found in the kitchen of every Louisiana home, a jambalaya mix that will make your mouth water, a coffee that combines the best of two flavors, chocolate and pecan pie, a candle with a signature southern fragrance, a cookie cutter that has the true mark of Louisiana, music from a Grammy award-winning group and art that embodies the landscape of Louisiana.”
Parish Parcel’s Russo recommends purchasing the annual 12-month subscription plan for optimal savings, and gifting a subscription to an homesick friend or family member at checkout.
Regular subscriptions and gift orders began this month.
