NEW ORLEANS – Hundreds of disability, absence, human resources and other professionals will gather in New Orleans, Monday, July 18, through Thursday, July 21, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, 2 Poydras St., for the Disability Management Employer Coalition’s (DMEC) National Absence and Disability Management Conference to gain practical knowledge on industry trends and changing social norms and expectations.
Conference reps said the event will focus on the complex and rapidly changing state federal laws that can make it challenging for employers to keep up and maintain productivity while complying with new standards.
They said attendees of the DMEC Conference will gain practical knowledge from industry leaders on topics such as paid parental leave, sitting and health, opioid abuse and workplace productivity as well as the transition from military to civilian workplaces. The conference is designed to help industry veterans and those new to the field gather the tools needed to maintain strong, legally compliant programs at every organization.
DMEC reps said the group is the only association dedicated to providing focused education, knowledge and networking for absence and disability professionals. Through its national education programs and network of local chapters, DMEC delivers trusted strategies, tools, and resources to minimize lost work time, improve workforce productivity, and maintain legally compliant absence and disability programs, they said.
This is the first DMEC National Conference to be held in New Orleans. The group is projected to have an economic impact of nearly $800,000.
