NEW ORLEANS – Three economic development entities from the Greater New Orleans area – Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), Plaquemines Association of Business and Industry (PABI) and the Westbank Business and Industry Association (WBIA)—are hosting a Senate Candidate Forum on:

The four leading candidates, determined by the August 31st Hayride Poll, are confirmed to participate in the forum, including: Congressman Charles Boustany, Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell, Caroline Fayard, and State Treasurer John Kennedy. All 24 candidates have been invited to attend the networking hour.
“PABI feels that having the right person fill this Senate seat is critical to the economic future of Plaquemines Parish, the Westbank and all of Louisiana,” Robert Hopkins, 2016 Chairman, PABI, said. “Our next Senator will have to champion funding for infrastructure, port development, NFIP and coastal restoration efforts. Leadership on these issues in the Senate will allow us to, again, compete with to compete with neighboring states.”
“This is an opportunity for our members to hear firsthand from senatorial candidates regarding issues of importance to the WBIA and our members,” Charlie Frederick, President, WBIA, said. “We are pleased to help make this forum possible and to encourage our members to be engaged in the process.”
“The GNO region has seen unprecedented economic gains in the last 11 years: it is critical that our incoming Senate leadership understands the progress to date and is prepared to work with the business community to sustain future growth and prosperity,” Michael Hecht, President and CEO, GNO, Inc. “The West Bank, in particular, has extraordinary growth potential with Avondale and the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, but faces significant environmental, transportation and policy challenges as well. Our federal representation is key to leveraging these assets and mitigating future challenges.”
