NEW ORLEANS – The Community Action Council of Tulane University Students (CACTUS) announced they will be working with the Center for Public Service (CPS) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Outreach Tulane Day of Service on Saturday, August 29, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Outreach Tulane is the university's largest day of service, open to all members of the Tulane community. Historically, this has been Tulane's signature event, serving as a springboard for more than 1,000 student volunteers to get more involved on campus and around the city. The date will also remind volunteers that it has been ten years since the city began its recovery from the devastating effects of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster. In commemoration, Outreach Tulane will occur in conjunction with Katrina 10 Day of Service, a citywide event for students, residents and thousands of former volunteers from around the country to remember the past and celebrate the city’s resilience.
In order to help the city achieve its goal of hosting 10,000 volunteers during the month of August, Outreach Tulane is coordinating planning efforts to maximize their impact and accommodate more volunteers than ever before.
