OPSB Unanimously Approves Pay Raises For Network School-Based Educators, Personnel

NEW ORLEANS – At its Tuesday, June 14, 2016, board meeting, the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) unanimously approved pay raises for OPSB network school-based educators and personnel.

         “The OPSB has a priority to attract and retain the top talent in education,” said OPSB Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis Jr. “To that end, our starting salaries must remain competitive, and we are proud to end the 2015-16 school year with this good news for our educators and staff. We greatly appreciate their dedication and commitment to our students.”

OPSB Teachers

• Total net increase to effective teachers of $2,700, inclusive of fiscal year (FY) 2017 compensation study enhancements and annual step increase.

• Permanent increase of $500 to the OPSB teacher base salary scale, at all levels of education.

• $1,600 salary supplement.

• Maintain the current $600 step increases for all educators based on years of experience.

• $400 evaluation stipend, for effective ratings, starting FY 2017.

 

OPSB Para-Educators

• Total net increase to para-educators of $1,055, inclusive of FY 2017 compensation study enhancements and annual step increase.

• Permanent increase of $800 to the OPSB para-educator base salary scale.

• Maintain the current $255 step increases for all para-educators based on years of experience.

 

OPSB Security Officers

• Total net increase to school security officers of $1,268, inclusive of FY 2017 compensation study enhancements and annual step increase.

• Permanent increase of $800 to the OPSB school security officer base salary scale.

• OPSB to maintain the current $468 step increases for all school-based security staff based on years of experience.

 

OPSB Child Nutrition School-Based Personnel

• Total net increase to child nutrition school-based personnel of $1,024, inclusive of FY 2017 compensation study enhancements and annual step increase.

• Permanent increase of $800 to the OPSB child nutrition school-based personnel base salary scale.

• OPSB to maintain the current step increase of $281 for managers and $224 for technicians for all school-based child nutrition personnel based on years of experience.

 

         Raises will be reflected in OPSB network school employee paychecks based on the start of annual contracts and work cycles. Prior to the board’s approval, the OPSB conducted a thorough compensation review of salary schedules.
