NEW ORLEANS – The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) will hold a public hearing on Type 1 public charter applications on Monday, May 8, in Room 1050 at the OPSB Central Office at 5:00 p.m. The OPSB Central Office is located at 3520 General DeGaulle Dr. on the West Bank.
The intent of the hearing is to allow parents, students, teachers, faculty and community members to voice their input on the applications to School Board members.
OPSB Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. will present his recommendations on the applications to the Board at the May Business Board Meeting on Thursday, May 18. Votes are only required if the board wishes to reject a recommendation.
A Type 1 public charter school is a completely new school that is authorized by OPSB. Type 1 public charter schools do not have existing school buildings, students or staff.
