SLIDELL, LA – Slidell Memorial Hospital officials will host an opening ceremony for its newly completed SMH Heart Center on Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at SMH’s main campus at 1001 Gause Blvd.
Chief Executive Officer Bill Davis will be on hand to discuss the impact on area cardiac patients from the advances in both technology and better coordinated care thanks to the design of SMH’s “cardiac specialty hospital” housed within a full-service acute care hospital.
SMH is a full-service 229-bed acute care not-for-profit community hospital located in the heart of Slidell. Founded in 1959, SMH serves as a primary healthcare resource for families in St. Tammany Parish, LA, and Pearl River County, MS.
In 2013, SMH expanded their Cardiac Care to meet the needs of St. Tammany's growing population. The initial expansion brought 29 new emergency beds and 38 specialized cardiac rooms.
SMH reps say their cardiac care units offer the most advanced technology available, including the Arctic Sun therapeutic hypothermia system that can prevent irreversible brain damage, and minimally invasive laser ablation that treats peripheral artery disease with a much quicker procedure than traditional bypass surgery.
