METAIRIE, La. — OnPath Federal Credit Union has announced the hiring of Darrell Johnson as vice president of the OnPath Foundation and vice president of impact. In his role with OnPath FCU, he will work closely with the executive leadership team to grow general membership and increase the select employment group footprint in the metro area. His role with the foundation will be focused on securing funding and developing more opportunities to serve the community.
Johnson is a native New Orleanian. He completed his undergraduate studies at Loyola University in New Orleans and his master’s level training at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. While living in Texas, Darrell worked directly with displaced Louisiana community members following Hurricane Katrina, as well as Houston’s homeless population. He managed major projects and programs for Neighborhood Centers Inc., the United Way of Greater Houston and HEB food stores.
In 2007, Johnson joined the homeless advocacy agency My Fellow Man Alliance and served as executive director for five years. In 2011, he moved on to work with United Against Human Trafficking as the agency’s director of development and boys prevention programming. Since moving back to New Orleans, he has continued his work in public relations, community impact and fundraising initiatives with several organizations, agencies and institutions.
“We are thrilled to have Darrell join our team. We expect his background in public relations and nonprofit leadership to increase our organizational awareness and contribute to OnPath’s long-term success and positive impacts on the community,” said Candace Washington, the credit union’s vice president of member engagement.
