NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Gulf Coast claims centers that were established to assist people in filing claims under a settlement for property and economic damages from the 2010 BP oil spill are officially closing.
Friday's closure comes nearly two weeks after the June 8 deadline for filing claims.
Claims Administrator Patrick Juneau said his office's efforts are now transitioning to reviewing and processing claims.
People wishing to file claims were able to do so in person, by phone or online. Juneau has not yet released a tally of how many claims have been filed.
