LAFAYETTE, LA (AP) — The Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition is hosting a job fair Wednesday at the Cajundome & Convention Center from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for oil and gas industry companies looking for qualified employees.
Military veterans will get special attention in the form of access to career experts from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and then interviews with company human resources officials.
The Advocate reports LAGCOE, an oil and gas industry nonprofit organization, holds an exhibition every two year at the Cajundome that draws thousands of people. The group's next major exhibition will be a year from now, on Oct. 27-28, 2015.
LAGCOE holds job fairs yearly.
"Our goal is to provide the industry with an outlet for recruiting and facilitate networking between existing and future professionals," said Angela Cring, executive director for LAGCOE.
Oil and gas companies are in need of qualified employees — from drillers to producers, as well as service firms that help get oil and gas from beneath the earth to consumers.
"Current and future oil and gas professionals will have the opportunity to interact with human resources staff at the LAGCOE Career Fair," LAGCOE said in a news release.
Attendees will be able to participate in four career development sessions conducted by professionals, and OilOnline will offer job seekers a free "headshot service" for online job applications.
