NEW ORLEANS – The Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s Sippin’ in Seersucker will take place Friday, April 15, 2016, at The Shops at Canal Place, 333 Canal St., from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Sippin’ in Seersucker, an evening of Southern art, cocktails, live music, delicious cuisine, fashion and shopping, is a collaboration between the Ogden Museum and The Shops at Canal Place that benefits the museum.
Attendees are encouraged to don seersucker and celebrate the start of the summer social season in style. Sippin' in Seersucker attracted nearly 600 people in 2015, and continues to be one of the most popular events in the city.
An evening of light bites, Southern cocktails, shopping specials, entertainment from some of the city’s best performers including the Luke Winslow-King String Band and the Smoking Time Jazz Club, and deluxe raffles will culminate in a seersucker sartorial contest judged by local artist, L. Kasimu Harris, and New Orleans Fashion Week’s Tracee Dundas.
All attendees are automatically entered into the contest upon arrival. The judges will roam the crowd and let you know if your unique seersucker outfit has made the cut. The emcee for the evening will be WDSU newscaster Charles D. Divins.
Sippin’ in Seersucker 2016 co-chairs are Jolie Bensen Hamilton and Sarah Elizabeth Dewey of local clothing company, Jolie & Elizabeth, and L. Kasimu Harris and Ariel Wilson.
Raffle packages include wine, craft beer, patron tickets to the Ogden Museum’s Magnolia Ball, Southern crafts, entertainment, shopping at Canal Place, two seersucker bowties by Jolie & Elizabeth, and a men’s seersucker suit by Haspel.
Refreshments will be provided by some of the city’s best restaurants including: The American Sector; Angeline; Banana Blossom; Barcadia; Fulton Alley; Gordon Biersch New Orleans; Highly Seasoned Catering; The Fountain Lounge in the Roosevelt Hotel; Love, Cookie by Baker Maid; Ms. Linda's Yakamein; Nirvana Indian Cuisine; Silk Road; Southern Candymakers; The Windsor Court – Celebrate! Catering
Included with a ticket purchase is access to an open bar and free parking.
The Shops at Canal Place will also have special sales promotions.
Advance tickets cost $35 for Ogden Museum members and $55 for non-members. Tickets at the door will cost $45 for Ogden Museum members and $65 for non-members.
