Ochsner’s Dr. Carmouche Named Among ‘Physician Leaders Of Hospitals & Health Systems To Know’

NEW ORLEANS – Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized Dr. David Carmouche, senior vice president and president for the Ochsner Health Network, as a 2017 “Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems to Know”.

         The list features hospital and health system presidents and CEOs who also hold medical degrees. All members featured on this list have demonstrated outstanding leadership and clinical expertise throughout their careers, reps said. Many individuals have served in the top spots of multiple hospitals throughout their careers in addition to community boards and national organizations. These physicians also have accomplished clinical careers, giving them unique insight into the healthcare industry.

         Comprised of the leading health systems, their employed physicians groups and affiliated community physicians across the greater Gulf South, the Ochsner Health Network (OHN) serves as a leader in healthcare delivery innovation and is the largest “super” Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) in the region, reps said. Through collaboration and sharing of knowledge, resources, processes and technology, OHN is focused on finding innovative ways to deliver a higher level of care, lower overall healthcare costs and improve care across the region through better coverage solutions and a patient-centered care model, reps said.

         Through collaboration, the 2,500 primary care and specialty care physicians participating in OHN are making a difference in the lives of nearly one million patients across Louisiana every year, reps said.

         Dr. Carmouche joined Ochsner with 19 years of progressive, healthcare, leadership experience in medicine and operations. Before joining Ochsner, Dr. Carmouche served as the executive vice president of external operations and chief medical officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana in Baton Rouge where he successfully led important initiatives designed to organize care, improve quality and increase affordability.

         Dr. Carmouche earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tulane University, a medical degree from Louisiana State University – New Orleans School of Medicine, and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also completed the Executive Program for Managing Health Care Delivery at the Harvard Business School.
