NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Health System announced it is the recipient of new awards and accolades:
• Women’s Choice Award® Names Ochsner Hospital for Children One of “America’s Best”
Ochsner Hospital for Children is the only children’s hospital in Louisiana to receive the 2016 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Children.
• Ochsner Health System Awarded V Foundation Grant to Increase Participation in Clinical Trials
Ochsner Health System has been awarded a V Foundation-designated grant to create educational materials to increase awareness for the benefits of cancer clinical trials to minority populations.
• innovationOchsner named to 50 Hospitals with Innovation Programs by Becker’s Hospital Review
innovationOchsner (iO) has been named to the “50 Hospitals with Innovation Programs” list by Becker’s Hospital Review.
Founded in 1942 by five physicians, Ochsner Health System is one of the largest independent academic health systems in the United States and Louisiana’s largest not-for-profit health system. With 28 hospitals owned, managed and affiliated, more than 60 health centers, more than 17,000 employees, over 2,500 affiliated physicians in more than 90 medical specialties and subspecialties, Ochsner is Louisiana’s largest health system.
In addition, each year, more than 275 medical residents and fellows work in 27 different Ochsner-sponsored ACGME accredited residency training programs. Ochsner also hosts more than 700 medical students, 1588 nursing students and 600 allied health students in clinical rotations annually.
In 2009, Ochsner partnered with the University of Queensland Medical School to create the University of Queenland – Ochsner Clinical School.
