CHALMETTE, LA— Students who have been displaced by the closure of ITT Tech can apply as transfer students to Nunez Community College.
Nunez has already been enrolling students for its upcoming eight-week Fast Lane 2 semester, which begins on October 12. ITT Tech students are encouraged to apply for the Fast Lane 2 semester so that they can continue their studies as soon as possible, school reps said.
Nunez offers two eight-week Fast Lane semesters each fall and spring. By scheduling courses this way, Nunez can accommodate students who need to complete courses in a shorter period of time. Starting Fast Lane 2 half-way into the regular fall semester also creates another enrollment period for students who missed the traditional start of the semester.
“Our Fast Lane semester was already planned before ITT Tech announced its closure,” Tonia Loria, dean of academic affairs at Nunez, said. “We are prepared to enroll new students for the October 12 start of Fast Lane 2, so we can accommodate students who wish to transfer.”
In order to make the transfer process as seamless as possible, Nunez is offering priority advising to former ITT Tech students and giving them to opportunity to apply for the Life Experience Assessment Program (LEAP) free of charge. Assessment of LEAP credits is typically $24.00 per college course.
Students in need of enrollment assistance should contact Nunez’s academic advisors at advisinghelp@nunez.edu or call (504) 278 -6467.
