Nuclear Regulatory Commission To Hold Town Hall

BATON ROUGE (AP) — An unspecified security violation recorded last year at Entergy's River Bend nuclear plant in St. Francisville has prompted the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to hold a town hall meeting later this month about the plant's 2014 performance and the agency's oversight and planned inspections.

According to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report’s Stephanie Riegel, the meeting is set for Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the St. Francisville Town Hall.

In a news release, the NRC says the plant operated safely overall during 2014 but will get additional oversight as a result of a security violation. The agency says it will also conduct an additional inspection because the plant had two unplanned shutdowns during the fourth quarter of 2014, exceeding a performance threshold.
