NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Enrollment at Northwestern State University in Louisiana has topped 11,000 students for the first time.
The university, based in Natchitoches (NACK'-ih-tish) says in a news release that fall enrollment totaled 11,081 students.
University officials said it's the second straight year for record-breaking enrollment. Last fall's record enrollment was 10,572.
Northwestern president Chris Maggio said reasons for the growing enrollment include the dedication of faculty and students. He also credited expansion and enhancement of academic programs, improvements in infrastructure and facilities and continued growth in private financial contributions from alumni and others.
