MANDEVILLE, LA – The Northshore Rising Professionals' Leadership Summit is a half-day workshop designed to motivate and empower young professionals in the region, focusing on what it takes to succeed in business.
The summit will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the Fleur de Lis Event Center, 1645 N. Causeway Blvd., in Mandeville, LA, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Speakers will present information on entrepreneurship, economic development, inspiring employees and ideas to encourage the pursuit of excellence and growth for local businesses as well as in the community.
Featured speakers will include:
• Renee Maloney and Cathy Deano are a franchise success story and the founding partners of Painting with a Twist. When the two local women set out to make a difference for their community in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath, they did not expect that their idea would become a #1 Ranked National Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine. In just under seven years. Painting with a Twist has licensed 260 franchised studios in 33 states, with 50 more to open by the end of the year. Painting with a Twist was awarded the Chamber's Tammany Award in January 2015.
• Kevin Wilkins, founder of trepwise, has over 25 years experience with corporate and entrepreneurial ventures. Since moving to New Orleans, Kevin served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and COO during The Idea Village's 2012 and 2013 Entrepreneur Seasons, working with over 300 entrepreneurs in New Orleans. Kevin has extensive experience in management, marketing, and operations. After graduating from Harvard Business School with honors, he ran High Net Worth Discretionary Management for Fidelity Investments. Kevin's team has worked entrepreneurs and startups in New Orleans, the number one city for start-ups per capita in the United States.
• Pauline & Stephen Patterson were born in Belfast and connected with the culture of New Orleans when they arrived in the '90s. They bought a worn-out old bar and turned it into Finn McCool's Irish Pub. They re-opened six months after Hurricane Katrina. The bar has become a major part of the Mid City community and won awards for "Best Bartender in New Orleans" every year since re-opening along with "Best Neighborhood Bar." The Pub is named for Finn McCool, the legendary giant of Irish folklore. The Irish Times named Finn's as one of the top 10 Irish Pubs outside Ireland.
The Northshore Rising Professionals’ (NRP) mission is to bring young professionals together to engage with one another and the business, political and community leadership in an effort to improve the community and provide a voice for young professionals. They boast over 50 active members and their goals include providing social and networking opportunities, collaboration with other committees, and community outreach.
The NRP committee is also committed to community service projects such as their signature Leaders of Tomorrow Program and "Summer of Service." NRP lunch meetings are typically held the third Wednesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Breakfast meetings are held quarterly. The NRP also host "Off the Clock" activities such as Trivia Night.
Admission for the Summit costs $50 for members and $65 for non-members.
