NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Media Arts and Full-Day Academic Studio Student, Trad Willmann, along with the help of classmate Richard White and Drama student Jasper Herrington recently received an Honorable Mention award for their film submission to the White House Film Festival. From more than 1,500 entries, their film, “The Secret To Living” received this special recognition.
The White House Film Festival Competition is open to any K-12 student. The competition aims to highlight the power of technology in education. Trad took the helm as director and writer, Richard was the director of photography and Jasper composed an original score for the film.
Addressing the theme of "the impact of giving back,” the film “The Secret To Living” tells the story of a girl who represents giving back through reforestation and a writer who represents giving back to humanity through his novels. The film has been officially selected by 4 other film festivals in addition to the White House Film Festival.
The NOCCA Media Arts Filmmaking and Audio Production Department offers technical and conceptual training in audio, film and video recording and production. Young artists receive the tools to create artistically and explore and develop their own voice in a field that often emphasizes collaboration. Media Arts students master skills in audio recording, animation, cinematography, directing, editing, lighting, motion graphics and script writing. In addition, all students in Media Arts gain an understanding of the history, theory and aesthetics of communication arts in order to appreciate the art form and to make informed decisions in their own work.
NOCCA is Louisiana’s arts conservatory for high school students. NOCCA offers students from across the state tuition-free arts instruction in Culinary Arts, Creative Writing, Dance, Media Arts (Filmmaking and Audio Production), Music, Theatre Arts, Visual Arts and academics.
