No New Louisiana Income Tax Refund Cards As Of Friday

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) — The Louisiana Department of Revenue says that, starting Friday, taxpayers cannot get state income tax refunds on debit cards because J.P. Morgan Chase is dropping the prepaid debit cards.

Department spokeswoman Kizzy Payton said Tuesday that refunds approved and processed after Thursday will get a paper check if the taxpayer requested a "MyRefund" debit card.

Taxpayers can still get refunds by direct deposit. Payton says that's the fastest and most secure refund method.

If you already have a state tax refund debit card with money on it, you can use it after Thursday but won't be able to get future refunds placed on it.
