NEW ORLEANS (AP) — John Nicklow, who has been serving as provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of New Orleans, has been chosen as the university's new president.
Nicklow was chosen Wednesday by the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System. He succeeds Peter Fos, who retired at the end of last year.
A UNO search committee had narrowed the field of candidates to replace Fos down to Nicklow and Andy Kopplin, a deputy mayor of New Orleans.
Prior to coming to UNO in July, the university says, Nicklow was provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Southern Illinois University.
Nicklow earned a bachelor's and master's degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University and a doctorate in civil engineering from Arizona State University.
