NEW ORLEANS — As Community Outreach Coordinator Nic Brierre Aziz leads the museum’s NOMA+ initiative, a portable museum created to bring the NOMA experience to the 72 neighborhoods in Greater New Orleans, connecting residents of all ages and backgrounds to art, and promoting access and inclusion to museums and arts organizations.
As a native New Orleanian who has had the opportunity to travel extensively across the world, Aziz is very passionate about the impact that written expression and traveling can have on the city’s youth. These passions led him to found WriteBrained – a youth development program that utilizes the power of writing and unique cultural experiences as catalysts for self-discovery. Additionally, Aziz manages the Haitian Cultural Legacy Collection, a collection of over 400 pieces of artwork that was started by his maternal grandfather in 1944.
Aziz has contributed to publications such as HuffPost, ESPN.com, and AFROPUNK, and his work has been featured by The Oxford American, The 74 and The Alternative UK. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College and a Master of Science degree from The University of Manchester (UK).
