NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Cancer Research Center has appointed Dr. Valentine N. Nfonsam to its board of directors. Nfonsam is department head of surgery for LSU Health New Orleans, a member institution of the LCRC. His research has focused on colorectal cancer, especially in young patients, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. His lab has also researched the biology of early-onset colorectal cancer, colorectal cancer biology and carcinogenesis. Nfonsam has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings. The Louisiana Cancer Research Center brings together the talents of more than 200 researchers from four institutions: Louisiana State University Health New Orleans, Tulane University School of Medicine, Xavier University of Louisiana and Ochsner Health.
