NEW ORLEANS – On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk will publicly unveil the newly renamed 9th Ward Field of Dreams Stadium.
The press event will take place at the construction site of the new stadium located on Almonaster Blvd. right off I-10 at the Louisa Exit 239B (next door to Frederick Wilson Towing, 4500 Almonaster Blvd.).
Also in attendance will be the 9th Ward Field of Dreams Board of Directors, Orleans Parish School Board Members Cynthia Cade and Nolan Marshall, Jr., District D Councilmember Jared Brossett, District C Councilmember Nadine M. Ramsey, Senator J.P. Morrell, Representative Wesley T. Bishop, G.W. Carver High School students, G.W. Carver Alumni Association, the Carver community, Collegiate Academies Board of Directors and additional community leaders.
The 9th Ward Field of Dreams is a $1.85 million dollar community football field, Olympic-sized running track and stadium. Located adjacent to the campus of George Washington Carver High School, the stadium will be open to all area high schools, middle schools and community members free of charge.
This community space will be the first of its kind in the 9th Ward, and will serve as a model for community-centered athletic facilities across the country.
