News from Nunez Community College

NEW ORLEANS – In a press release, Nunez Community College announced that they will sponsor the 6th annual Battle of New Orleans Historical Symposium in conjunction wit the St. Bernard Parish Office of Tourism, Greater New Orleans Foundation Exxon Mobil Fund and Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board. The events take place on Friday, Jan. 11, at Nunez Community College and Saturday, Jan.12,  at St. Bernard Parish Government Complex Council Chambers. 

All lectures are free and open to the public, as is the Friday Jacksonian Luncheon. No reservations or registration is required.  Parking is nearby and free. For more information, please contact Curtis Manning (cmanning@nunez.edu or 504-278-6272).

In a separate press release, Nunez Community College announced the lineup for the Spring 2019 Nunez History Lecture Series. The series is a monthly community event held at Nunez Community College that provides a topical forum on the rich history of Louisiana. From the first Native American settlers to Hurricane Katrina, all aspects of Louisiana history are covered in this ever-expanding series of lectures.

These entertaining and enlightening series of events are free and open to the public. Each Monday lecture begins with a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 7 p.m. in the AST Auditorium on campus (3710 Paris Road, Chalmette). It's sponsored by the Greater New Orleans ExxonMobil Fund.
