When Arnaud’s Restaurant opened its doors at 813 Bienville St. almost a century ago, owner “Count” Arnaud Cazenave featured a vast French-Creole menu including nine oyster appetizers, 51 seafood entrees and 40 vegetables including 16 different potato sides.
Current owners Katy and Archie Casbarian, along with their mother Jane, are continuing the Classic Creole tradition catering to gourmet and casual patrons alike with its special Menu Résolution, a three-course health conscious menu to be served throughout the month of January.
“Arnaud’s is nearing its 100th anniversary in 2018,” Katy Casbarian, co-owner of Arnaud’s said. “Through the years, we’ve remained committed to staying true to the vision of founder Arnaud Cazenave and our father, Archie Casbarian, who purchased the restaurant from the Cazenaves [in 1978]. Part of that is reinvigorating the cuisine to maintain relevancy and awareness, but also to ensure we’re offering menu items to our guests that speak to where they are in that moment.”
Capitalizing on universal New Year’s resolutions to eat healthy and lose weight, Arnaud’s is offering its Menu Résolution through Tuesday, Jan. 31.
“The New Year is a time when a lot of us are working on our waistlines, so we thought we’d help out by having Chef Tommy DiGiovanni create some lighter options, without compromising the big flavors Creole cuisine is beloved for,” Casbarian said. “We launched the Menu Résolution three years ago based on feedback from diners, and we just had to bring it back and plan to do so for years to come.”
“It takes the guesswork out of ordering from a menu that features traditional Creole flavors and local ingredients in a lighter style,” she said.

“You’ll see the Menu Résolution is jam-packed with superfoods, nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being,” she said. “From Sea Scallops served with rainbow carrots and spinach, to Roasted Free Range Chicken with mushrooms and wild rice pilaf, guests will be eating light without compromising flavor and enjoyment. Even better, our light and fit menu includes two options for a guilt-free dessert!”
