NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans woman is among the 2015-2016 class of White House Fellows.
September Hargrove was chief operating officer of the PowerMoves NOLA Initiative at the New Orleans Startup Fund, where she led a national effort to address the lack of racial diversity in tech entrepreneurship and provide access to venture capital for entrepreneurs of color. In 2014, she was recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in tech and entrepreneurship throughout Louisiana.
Hargrove also served as the economic development policy and program manager for Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
The President's Commission on White House Fellowships announced the appointments Monday. They will participate in a year-long education program created in 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson and designed to broaden their knowledge of leadership, policy formulation, and current affairs.
