New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, Arts Council New Orleans and Jamar Pierre To Unveil Tricentennial Mural On September 13

 

NEW ORLEANS — On Thursday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m., New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC) President/CEO Mark Romig, Arts Council New Orleans Director of Place and Civic Design Alphonse Smith, and Visual Artist Jamar Pierre will gather inside the Bywater Art Garden Park to unveil the Upper Ninth Ward Tricentennial Mural.

NOTMC commissioned New Orleans native and seasoned visual artist, Jamar Pierre, to produce a mural that illustrates a moment that has helped shaped the city's 300-year history. The mural will pay homage to Homer Adolph Plessy, New Orleans Civil Rights Activist, and the generations that lived and worked in the Upper Ninth Ward.
