New Orleans QB, Wife, Donate To Superstorm Sandy Victims

LONG BEACH, NY (AP) — New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany are helping some suburban New York families rebuild homes damaged in Superstorm Sandy.

Newsday’s John Asbury reports the couple has made a $200,000 donation through their Dream Foundation to assist Long Beach families in storm recovery.

The United Way of Long Island says Brees was inspired by the outpouring of generosity from Long Islanders after Hurricane Katrina flooded New Orleans.

The grant to the United Way helped rebuild 20 homes in Long Beach damaged by wind and floods in the October 2012 storm.

Long Island United Way President and CEO Theresa Regnante says the homeowners are grateful to receive the help from a "Saint."
