NEW ORLEANS – The law firm of Adams and Reese announced that New Orleans Partner Elizabeth A. Roussel has been elected to the firm’s Executive Committee.
“Liz has proven her excellent leadership skills and unwavering commitment to our firm as the New Orleans Partner in Charge and also as team leader of one of our firm’s top practices in Labor and Employment,” Guilford F. “Gif” Thornton, Jr., Adams and Reese Managing Partner, said. “We are excited to transition that leadership experience and her tremendous insight to our Executive Committee.”
The Executive Committee serves as the equivalent of the firm’s Board of Directors and is made up of six Partners, each elected to serve a three-year term. Roussel formerly served as the Partner in Charge of the Adams and Reese New Orleans office.
Jeff Brooks, Chairman of the Adams and Reese Executive Committee and Washington DC Office Partner in Charge added, “I am excited to welcome Liz to the firm’s executive committee. She has been a driving force in the growth and success of our firm, and her experience, knowledge in the legal field and impact on the community will be instrumental in continuing our firm’s strategic growth and formulating innovative plans to guide our firm in the future.”
Roussel joined the firm in 2002, and focuses her practice on labor and employment litigation, commercial litigation and director and officer liability claims litigation. She has represented a wide variety of clients including financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, public entities, nonprofit corporations, state agencies, private universities, public trusts and charter schools.
Roussel received a 2015 Millennial Award in the law category at the third annual "The Millennials: A Salute to Service" awards ceremony, held July 25 at the National World War II Museum. The awards recognized professionals, under the age of 40, who are making a difference in the New Orleans community. Roussel was also selected among the 2011 “Women of the Year” by New Orleans CityBusiness, and she was a participant in the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute in 2014.
“I am honored to be elected by the firm’s leadership to serve on the Executive Committee, and I look forward to helping Adams and Reese continue its growth and success as a go-to firm in each of our business communities, always working to improve and expand the high level of services we provide to our clients,” Roussel said.
In the community, Roussel is a past chair of the board of directors for the Children’s Bureau of New Orleans. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Longue Vue House and Gardens.
Roussel earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2002, and she received her B.A. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998.
