PHILADELPHIA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – On Oct. 9, Project Management Institute (PMI) announced the winners of the 2018 PMI ® Professional Awards during a gala at the 2018 PMI ® Global Conference – North America in Los Angeles, California. A New Orleans construction project, Project Legacy, won the PMI Project of the Year award.
The PMI Professional Awards Gala and dinner is an annual celebration of project, program, and portfolio management – and the industry stars who are not only changing the profession and their organizations, but enabling the evolution of their communities and the business landscape. Based on nominations from their global membership, PMI and the PMI Educational Foundation honor those who represent the best of the best from across the world of project management.
The PMI Project of the Year award recognizes the large and complex project that best delivers superior performance of project management practices, superior organizational results, and positive impacts on society, with a project budget of more than $100 million.
In September of 2009, the Department of Veterans Affairs chose Clark/McCarthy Healthcare Partners as the Integrated Design and Construct (IDC) contractor for the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Replacement Medical Center (Project Legacy).
Project Legacy is a multi-building campus covering twelve city blocks totaling 29 acres. Buildings include inpatient, diagnostic and treatment, outpatient, transitional living and rehabilitation, research, administration, central energy plant and two separate parking structures. Total gross square footage of the project is approximately 1.6 million square feet, plus an additional 800,000 gross square footage of parking structure.
This project marks a new day in many respects for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and will forever mark the New Orleans history pages as one of the single-largest construction projects in the city’s history
