NEW ORLEANS – Beginning Monday, October 5, 2015, residents and businesses will be able to apply for construction dumpster permits in city streets through the City’s One Stop Shop rather than through the Department of Public Works. This change will allow applicants to apply in person on the seventh floor of City Hall or online via onestopapp.nola.gov.
“This move is another step toward the City’s goal of creating a single point of entry for permits in the city of New Orleans,” said Jared Munster, director of the New Orleans Department of Safety & Permits. “We are working every day to improve our customer service and make City Hall services more convenient for residents and businesses.”
Other permits currently issued by the Department of Public Works, such as curb cuts, sidewalk repair and utility cuts, are also available through the One Stop Shop.
As existing manually-issued permits expire, this change in the permitting process will allow the public to determine if a construction dumpster is properly permitted by visiting onstopapp.nola.gov. Additionally, enforcement of City standards will be conducted by the Department of Safety and Permits. To report an unpermitted construction dumpster, residents are encouraged to call 311.
The One Stop Shop for permits and licenses is located in City Hall, 1300 Perdido St., 7th floor. Its normal business hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
